Less than a week after seeing Rick Wakeman's
"Journey to the Center of the Earth" concert at
San Francisco's Civic Center, we were back to Winterland.
Traffic and Lindisfarne played. This was the second time
I had seen Traffic at Winterland. A week later
we saw Elton John for the second time, too.
Kiki Dee was the opening act. They played at the
Oakland Colosseum. Traffic were terrific and performed
as a four-piece with Jim Capaldi on drums.
We all felt that Elton John was not as good as he was
the first time we saw him a year earlier. He had peaked
with "Good-Bye Yellow Brick Road" and never
achieved the same quality.
We planned to see Brian Auger and Donovan
that month, but both cancelled.
